Challenge
Your current infrastructure is holding back your product delivery. Scaling is slow. Change is risky. Your engineers are spending more time managing tooling than building features. You know a cloud-native approach is the way forward, but turning that strategy into something real, tested, and team-ready can feel out of reach without the right partner.
Approach
We work alongside your team to understand the specific business pressures you face - from lost opportunities to escalating operational costs. Through structured workshops, we design a reference architecture that addresses your unique constraints while establishing measurable outcomes that matter to your business. Rather than theoretical recommendations, we build a working foundation that validates your platform approach and identifies any show-stoppers before they become costly mistakes.
Our pilot focuses on solving the real pain points your teams experience daily. We implement your representative application using platform engineering best practices, capturing concrete evidence of operational improvements and development workflow changes. Your engineering teams work directly with the new platform, providing immediate feedback that shapes the solution to fit your organisation’s needs and technical constraints.
The pilot delivers comprehensive documentation of findings, live demonstrations of deployment capabilities, and a clear assessment of transformation requirements. You receive not just technical assets, but practical answers to critical business questions about investment, risk mitigation, and implementation sequencing. Your teams gain the confidence and evidence needed to make informed decisions about your platform engineering journey.

Cloud Platform Engineering FAQ
James Mitchell, Engineering Director
How do we know when our platform is ready to support our customers at scale?
LiveWyer
Solution: Comprehensive validation through practical testing
We meticulously test all scenarios relevant to your use cases during the pilot. Your team experiences the operational workflows firsthand, while we document performance characteristics and scalability patterns. By week three, you'll have concrete evidence of whether the platform meets your requirements, along with a clear understanding of any prerequisites needed for broader adoption.
Sophie Martinez, Development Team Lead
How will platform standardisation affect our teams' ability to choose their own tools and approaches?
LiveWyer
Solution: Balance discovery through team participation
Your teams participate in defining the platform's golden paths during the technical workshops. We facilitate discussions about which standards serve everyone versus where flexibility should remain. The process helps teams understand the trade-offs between autonomy and consistency, with decisions emerging from collaborative design rather than top-down mandates.
Sarah Williams, Technical Lead
What happens if we invest time in this pilot and discover our team isn't ready for the cultural transformation that platform engineering requires?
LiveWyer
Solution: Readiness assessment and realistic planning
The pilot includes structured evaluation of your team's transformation readiness through hands-on participation in platform design workshops and technical implementation. We assess skills gaps, cultural barriers, and organisational constraints as part of the process. If readiness challenges emerge, we provide clear recommendations for addressing them, including training requirements and change management strategies. The pilot's value lies in discovering these realities early, when adjustments are still manageable and cost-effective.
Questions about the pilot
How much does the pilot cost?
The Cloud Platform Engineering pilot is a fixed price of £23,000 for a fixed three-week scope, built around a representative application of yours.
How long does the pilot take?
Three weeks. In the first week we assess your current environment, run the architecture workshop, and set up the pilot platform. During the second we deploy your representative application on the platform and test it. The third week covers the pilot report, demonstrations for your stakeholders, and knowledge transfer to your team.
What do we need to have ready?
Very little up front. We choose the representative application and agree the success criteria with you at the start. It helps to know who will take part, since the pilot draws on management, infrastructure, development, operations, and security at different stages. Bring your security policies as well, so that we can apply them to the pilot platform.
What happens after the pilot?
You receive a pilot report with an executive summary, the technical findings, and options for full implementation, incremental adoption, or a different approach, along with an implementation roadmap and timeline estimates. Everything we build and document during the pilot is yours to keep, whichever option you choose. If you want our help with the next stage, we scope and quote it separately, and there is no obligation to continue with us.
