Built for how live and file-based media actually work
Time-Addressable Media Store (TAMS) is reshaping how broadcasters and media teams work with content. Rather than copying whole files between systems, media lives as immutable, timestamped segments addressed by time. Editors can start cutting a feed while it is still being recorded, live and file-based workflows share a single store, and moving content between tools stops meaning moving petabytes. Developed by BBC R&D, TAMS is one of broadcast's most closely watched standards, with backing from AWS, Reuters and others.
TAMOSS brings that model to your own infrastructure: an open-source, Kubernetes-native TAMS store, with no proprietary extensions and no vendor lock-in. The same product runs on a laptop, a single server, or a multi-region cluster, so your team owns the store end to end and runs it wherever your content needs to live.

Watch us build a TAMS store from nothing
TAMOSS is a Kubernetes-native implementation of the BBC's Time-addressable Media Store API; a common foundation for building fast-turnaround media workflows. TAMOSS can be deployed as an operator to your own Kubernetes cluster (on-prem or cloud), a local demo cluster or at the edge on a Raspberry Pi. It implements the full API along with a UI for managing, browsing and uploading to the store, a new ingest capability, and can use managed or external platform services such as PostgreSQL, object storage and Oauth2/OIDC authentication.

Most of the momentum behind TAMS so far has been cloud-hosted or vendor-specific. TAMOSS is a conformant implementation of the BBC TAMS v8.2 API, published under Apache 2.0, that your own team runs and owns.
More implementations were always the point, and it is written into the spec's principles. The standard took the IABM Industry Partnership Award at IBC2025 on the back of years of community work making it implementable, so come and tell us where ours falls short.
